A Darkened Moon

on December 8, 2008

All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life.
- Proverbs 7:22-23

I, the moon, had always eyes for only my precious sun.
I followed her faithfully from the moment twilight begun.
That is until the night
I saw a twinkling light
in the corner of my eye.
I turned my face just a bit
to catch a star beautifully lit,
then suddenly lost my radiant glow.
I never could figure where my precious sun did go.
